Want to study artificial intelligence at KUIS AI does not directly admit graduate students. Instead, students apply directly to specific graduate degree programs under KU graduate school of sciences and engineering (GSSE). Application deadlines for graduate programs are announced at the end of Fall and Spring semesters each year.

Phd Programs

Overview: In general, for students who are accepted with a Ms degree (with thesis), the doctoral program comprises of at least 21 credits including seven courses, at least one seminar course, a qualification exam, a thesis proposal and a thesis study. For students who are accepted with a Bs degree, the doctoral program comprises of at least 42 credits in total including at least 14 courses, at least one seminar course, a qualification exam, a thesis proposal and a thesis study.

Period of Study: The duration of the doctoral program is between eight and twelve semesters for students accepted with a Ms degree, and it is between ten and fourteen semesters for students accepted with a Bs degree, regardless of the time spent on scientific preparation or research internships.

Qualifying exam: Students must take the qualifying exam until the end of fifth semester, (if accepted with a Ms degree), or seventh semester (if accepted with a Bs degree).

Ms Programs

Overview: In general, an Ms program is comprised of at least 21 credits in total including  seven courses, at least one seminar course and a thesis study.

Period of study: The duration of the master program is between four and six semesters, regardless of the time spent on scientific preparation or research internships.
